We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join a long-term project in the banking domain, working on high-value, business-critical payment functionalities. You will contribute to the design, implementation, and delivery of robust and scalable backend services using modern Java and Spring Boot, while also promoting clean architecture, testing best practices, and team collaboration

This is you

• 7+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering

• Deep knowledge of Java and Spring Boot

• Solid understanding and hands-on application of design patterns

• Practical experience with testing practices – unit and integration

• Proficiency with tools such as JUnit, Mockito, and TestContainers

• Strong experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, ActiveMQ)

• Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases

• Excellent communication skills – able to clearly articulate challenges and technical decisions

• Strong team player, collaborative mindset, and proactive attitude

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to investigate and resolve production issues

• Highly responsible when working on sensitive, payment-related functionality

Nice-to-have skills:

• Experience with reactive programming (e.g., Project Reactor, WebFlux)

• Hands-on knowledge of MongoDB or other NoSQL technologies

• Deeper experience with event-driven systems and message brokers

This is your role

• Design and build robust backend components using Java and Spring Boot

• Conduct structured, constructive code reviews with a focus on quality and system impact

• Collaborate with team members to establish and uphold development standards

• Take end-to-end ownership of feature delivery and system design

• Actively manage and reduce technical debt within your team

• Keep documentation up to date and accessible

• Participate in hiring by leading technical interviews and reviewing coding challenges

• Foster a culture of quality, security, and improvement
