We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Engineer to join a banking technology project focused on building secure, cloud-portable, and scalable backend services. The role involves designing and delivering API-first, microservice-based solutions using Java and Spring Boot, with strong emphasis on security, reliability, and event-driven architectures.

You will work in a modern cloud environment (primarily Azure Kubernetes, with exposure to OpenShift and AWS), integrate with enterprise identity providers for SSO, and contribute to production-grade systems that meet strict banking standards. The position also encourages the responsible use of AI development assistants to enhance productivity and code quality, aligned with governance and security requirements.

Fluency in Bulgarian is required.

This is you

• 6+ years of professional experience with Java and modern backend development.

• Strong experience with Spring Boot and building microservices and/or modular service-based architectures.

• Proven delivery of RESTful APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger, versioning, backward compatibility).

• Practical knowledge of event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka or equivalent) and message processing patterns.

• Experience with Azure; deploying/running services on Kubernetes; familiarity with OpenShift is an advantage.

• Understanding of mTLS, secure communication patterns, and production-grade security practices.

• Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect and integrating with external IdPs for SSO.

• Strong motivation to use AI development assistants to improve developer productivity and code quality (with disciplined review, traceability, and security considerations).

• Bulgarian language is a must

This is your role

• Develop Java/Spring Boot backend services with an API-first approach

• Build cloud-portable components that can run on Azure Kubernetes, OpenShift, and potentially AWS without vendor lock-in.

• Implement event-driven communication between services (publish/subscribe, event processing, reliability patterns).

• Integrate with external authentication/identity services, enabling SSO via OAuth 2.0 / OIDC.

• Apply AI-assisted development tools pragmatically with disciplined review and adherence to bank policies.
