In Prague within the Banking industry, we are looking for a local senior PHP developer (Laravel) with strong experience working on large, long-lived systems where stability and careful change management are the key.

On this project, You will be participating on a mature monolithic application with its own architecture, deep integration with an Oracle database, and multiple connected systems.

This is you

• 3-5 years of PHP experience, ideally within large-scale or legacy systems in banking/finance industry environment

• Strong experience with Laravel framework and knowledge of Oracle database

• Orientation in foreign code (monolith) and familiarity with the PHP ecosystem (Composer)

• Basic front-end understanding (jQuery, vanilla JavaScript) and knowledge of Latte templates

• Comfortable navigating and modifying existing codebases

• Solid understanding of relational databases (transactions, joins, indexing, performance)

• Experience with system integrations (REST, messaging - Kafka, ActiveMQ)

• Ability to assess change impact and resolve production issues in critical systems

• Experience with testing (PHPUnit/PEST) and static analysis (PHPStan)

• Fluent Czech or Slovak for local collaboration

• Intermediate English for communication with team and documentation

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of containerization (docker), Jenkins CI/CD and Kubernetes (k8s)

• Authentication via LDAP and JWT tokens

• Working on a large, existing system built on PHP 8+ and Laravel Framework

• Focus on understanding the current solution, making targeted changes, and evaluating their impact

• Ensuring stability and reliability of a business-critical system

• Troubleshooting production issues

• Gradual evolution and improvement of a long-running system

• Working with complex database logic and integrations

• Close cooperation with the team across backend and frontend

• Maintaining quality through testing, reviews, and engineering standards

• Agile collaboration with emphasis on stability and thoughtful delivery
