At the core of the role
In Sofia, Bulgaria we are actively seeking a Senior Python Engineer to strengthen our team dedicated to a project in Information Technology auditing, consulting, and software development industry domain.
The work is hybrid, and the suitable candidate can work from the client's office in Sofia approximately 1-2 days per week or biweekly.
Core skills you’ll bring
5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Python.
Advanced knowledge of Python, including object-oriented programming, asynchronous programming, and modern language features.
Strong experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services.
Solid understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
Familiarity with NoSQL databases and caching solutions such as MongoDB or Redis.
Experience with ORMs such as SQLAlchemy or Django ORM.
Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture.
Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Strong knowledge of automated testing using tools such as Pytest or unittest.
Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices.
Understanding of application security, performance optimization, logging, and error handling.
Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to make independent technical decisions and take ownership of complex development tasks.
Good English communication skills and experience collaborating with international teams.
Ability to work from the client's office in Sofia approximately 2 days per week.
Nice-to-have
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
Knowledge of message brokers and asynchronous task processing tools such as RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, or Celery.
Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
Familiarity with serverless architectures and cloud-native development.
Experience with GraphQL and/or WebSockets.
Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
Familiarity with data processing tools such as Pandas or NumPy.
Experience with high-load systems and performance-critical applications.
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Python.
Build, maintain, and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
Design and implement robust, maintainable, and efficient software architectures.
Write clean, reusable, well-structured, and thoroughly tested code.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver new features.
Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data access patterns.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, technical issues, and scalability challenges.
Implement appropriate security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and functional tests.
Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.
Lead technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
Support CI/CD processes, deployments, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
Mentor junior and mid-level developers and encourage knowledge sharing within the team.
Take ownership of technical solutions throughout the software development lifecycle.
