In LATAM we are looking for a Principal Node.js Engineer to join a fast-growing Series A startup in the retail industry. This is a high-impact role focused on evaluating, evolving, and scaling the company’s current architecture to enterprise-grade standards. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, providing both strategic guidance and hands-on architectural expertise across web and data stacks.

This role combines deep technical knowledge with leadership and mentoring skills to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability as the platform grows.

This is you

• 8+ years of experience in software architecture, with a proven track record of scaling applications to enterprise level.
  
• Advanced expertise in Node.js and TypeScript, with deep understanding of microservices architecture, enterprise patterns, and performance optimization.
  
• Strong background in Python, especially in architectural patterns and scalable data processing.
  
• Hands-on experience with technologies like Kafka, Redis, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and Vue.js.
  
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning and data warehousing principles.
  
• Proven experience designing and implementing AWS-based architectures with focus on scalability, high availability, and security.
  
• Skilled at conducting architectural assessments, code reviews, and producing actionable recommendations.
  
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — both written and verbal — to present findings and drive decisions across technical teams.
  
• Strong mentoring abilities and the willingness to lead technical discussions and influence implementation strategies.

• Evaluate and assess the existing web and data architecture to identify technical gaps and improvement areas.
  
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement scalable and performant solutions.
  
• Design enterprise-grade architectural strategies aligned with business goals and growth plans.
  
• Work alongside AWS Solutions Architects to ensure consistent alignment between high-level design and implementation.
  
• Provide technical direction on refactoring critical components, improving code quality and system resilience.
  
• Optimize utilization of existing technologies and define best practices for future growth.
  
• Produce clear documentation and architectural guidance to support decision-making and team onboarding.
  
• Mentor engineering teams to elevate architectural thinking across the organization.
