We are actively seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join a team focused on the development, maintenance, security, and long-term sustainment of mission-critical embedded platforms used across industries such as aerospace, telecommunications, industrial automation, healthcare, and automotive systems.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of software and hardware, helping diagnose complex issues, develop enhancements, implement security updates, and ensure the reliability of embedded solutions throughout their lifecycle. You will contribute across operating systems, BSPs, device drivers, middleware, and applications while collaborating with engineering teams to deliver robust and secure technology solutions. As part of your daily work, you will collaborate with highly skilled embedded, platform, and system engineers in a hands-on environment with direct access to hardware labs and development platforms.

The team is composed of experienced professionals specializing in embedded Linux, RTOS, board support packages, device drivers, platform security, and hardware/software integration.

Core skills you’ll bring

• 5+ years of experience developing embedded software products using C/C++.

• Strong experience with RTOS, Embedded Linux, and Yocto-based environments.

• Experience developing or debugging device drivers, BSPs, kernel components, or low-level platform software.

• Hands-on experience with Intel, ARM, or RISC-V architectures.

• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills across software and hardware domains.

• Experience with hardware debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and serial interfaces.

• Knowledge of Python, Bash, or Perl scripting for automation and tooling.

• Experience working with Git and modern software development practices.

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Availability to work on-site in San José, Costa Rica, five days per week

Nice-to-have

• Experience with wireless technologies such as BLE, Wi-Fi, or cellular communication.

• Knowledge of secure boot, code signing, SBOMs, CVE analysis, and vulnerability remediation.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines in embedded software environments.

• Advanced knowledge of Yocto customization, package management, and build optimization.

• Experience supporting customers in production environments and troubleshooting deployed systems.

• Exposure to cybersecurity initiatives, product security programs, or long-term platform sustainment activities.

• Experience in regulated or safety-critical industries such as Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial, Medical Devices, or Telecommunications.
